Pour parodier ce que disait Sartre à propos de l'art, on peut se passer de philosophie comme on peut se passer de vivre aussi. "Do we still engage with...". c'est le type même de pensée des nouveaux venus, qui ne sont que des tard-venus. Tous ce que nous pensons de sciences, de philosophies et d'arts, nous le devons à tous ces penseurs cités par une connaissance de Patrick, et à ceux qui ont voué leur vie à les transmettre. Maintenant il ne suffit pas de citer des noms prestigieux, comme le font ceux qui n'ont qu'un vernis de culture, mais il faut vivre avec les philosophes. La philosophie peut se penser aussi comme manière de vivre. Pierre Rabbi, que l'on ne peut pas prendre pour un intello mondain, prône la simplicité volontaire, comme la frugalité des anciens grecs, ou la "décroissance", mais ce n'est pas seulement pour sauver la planète, mais pour prendre le temps de déguster sa vie, de lire les philosophes ou de faire de la poésie et de la musique...
